Professional HunterJason van Aarde

Jason is a fifth generation Big Game Hunter. Jason's great, great grandfathers were ivory hunters in Southern Africa; one of Jason's prized possessions is the double rifle owned and used by his great grandfather in pursuit of those big tuskers. Jason was born and raised on a farm in the Eastern Free State and began accompanying his father on family hunts into Northern Zululand at age three. He started his professional hunting career at age eighteen.

Once qualified, Jason headed the project for the relocation of the Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino herds in the Pongola Game Reserve. The vast knowledge and experience gained in this endeavor regarding these species has served him well in his later career as a Big Game hunter in Northern Mozambique, Botswana, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. Jason joined the Witkop team in 1999.

A passionate dangerous game hunter who shot his first elephant at the tender age of nineteen, Jason now conducts a mixture of big five, plains game, and wing shooting hunts in most of the countries of Southern Africa.

Jason is an active member of PHASA (Professional Hunters Association of South Africa), Big Bore Association, and the Free State Professional Hunting Association.

Any hunt with Jason is sure to be a memorable experience.
